What is a healthy place?

Healthy places are visually pleasing, incorporate natural materials, encourage clean air, natural light, and organic design elements to help people feel a sense of well-being and lower stress levels. Healthy places allow space for movement during the work day, as well as areas for constructive relationships to form between co-workers. Healthy places fulfill the natural biophilic tendency to be close to nature and natural elements.

What inspires our design?

  • You, your employees, your clients, your site
  • Permaculture ethics and principles

How do we design?

We listen to your needs and problems and design beautiful spaces to solve those issues. We help make tough decisions about improving your workplace, take care of finding reliable contractors and make sure the job is done within your budget.

We look at your space holistically and consider:

We look at your space holistically and consider:
  • Material longevity & afterlife: cradle to cradle
  • Lighting and access to natural light
  • Natural tactile materials such as wood, stone, clay, wool
  • Evoking natural shapes, patterns, forms
  • Space layout to allow for prospect and refuge
  • Space layout that encourages opportunities for relationship building – human to human, human to nature, nature to nature
  • Furniture and layout to encourage physical movement
  • Incorporation of green space; bringing it indoors
  • Air quality; avoid materials that emit toxic VOC’s & odors
  • Suppressing unpleasant sounds, incorporating natural sounds
  • Visual movement and objects that move
  • Variety and imperfections that evoke the beauty of nature
  • Color and the mood it evokes
  • Soil health, native non-invasive plants, edibles
  • Fitting your needs, both the context and social context
  • Place making, celebration of place and uniqueness
  • Creating a sense of place that evokes positive feelings, safety, wellness & creativity
